Clear Communication Timeline

Northland Communications provides every migration customer with an action plan cycle that outlines each stage of the installation. This roadmap helps you track progress and understand what’s expected from your team in advance of the migration.

Frequent Contact

Expect multiple emails throughout the process, these will include requests for information, scheduling meetings, and activating features. Tip: Make sure your IT team whitelists the email extension ‘@northland.net’ to ensure your delivery of key communications. It’s critical to make sure we have the right information for the right reasons so we can customize your communications. If anything seems unclear, reach out to your account representative or project coordinator. Each team will get a welcome email with Webex activation instructions.

IT Point of Contact

A qualified IT contact is essential. This person will handle technical tasks and ensure your network is ready for the transition. If your organization does not employ someone who can perform the tasks necessary, we can recommend a third-party partner. In some cases, Northland can perform those tasks for a customer if that is arranged in advance.

Onboarding Expectations

Onboarding your new users and getting them comfortable with the interface is one of the biggest factors to strong adoption. The more information that gets communicated with users, the better this can be managed.

Downtime Planning

Some system downtime is expected during migration. The duration depends on your solution’s complexity, so plan accordingly to minimize disruption.

Contact Visibility

Webex users must manually save contacts in their app. While users are searchable in the directory, a global contact view won’t be available at launch.

Onboarding – Training & Tools

Northland University (NRDU) Access

Your subscription includes access to Northland University or NRDU, training resources. Northland University is where you will find specific manuals and video courses to help your team succeed. Each user will receive an enrollment email in the courses relevant to the solution your team is using. NRDU is a wonderful resource to bookmark and make part of your onboarding experience for new hires.

ClerkChat 10DLC SMS Registration

For organizations who opt into using the SSM with ClerkCat feature there are additional onboarding steps necessary to stay compliant with regulations. To use SMS via the ClerkChat plug-in, your numbers must be registered with The Campaign Registry (TCR). Northland’s guide explains how to comply.

Third-Party Integrations

Northland doesn’t directly support third-party app setups in Webex, but we will liaise with Cisco for troubleshooting on your behalf. Full support is provided for integrations licensed through Northland.

Internet Migration Considerations

Switching to Northland internet? Your IP addresses will change, which affects how your network communicates externally. Key steps include:

  • Updating IPs for email/web servers
  • Reconfiguring routers and firewalls
  • Adjusting backup plans
  • Updating DNS records (at least 48 hours in advance)
  • Having a qualified IT person onsite during installation

⚠️Northland will not make changes to your devices. If your network isn’t ready, installation may be aborted or incur extra charges.
